"Signs Along the Way."

Following the track, I saw a Peacock
Butterfly laid out on the fresh stone
Red as dried velvet blood,
Eyes staring at me
Blue as the sea,
Its waves holding me transfixed.
Then a hoverfly, striped pretender to power,
And a bumble bee, tumbling, bumbling,
Stumbling over a straw.
And I saw, I knew Jesus’ eyes
Looked to me from His shed blood
While the father of all lies tried to fool me
That he could cause me pain,
Hissing around my ear;
But the blood had covered me
And I knew my redemption
Even as I stumbled over the straw-strewn path
Leading me on my narrow way, I saw
Food for the sparrow that falls, searching.
